Capitol Hill Block Party

July 20, 2022

Capitol Hill Block Party is a 3-day music festival held every year in the heart of Seattle. The goal of it is to celebrate music, art and the culture surrounding Seattle. Read below to find out more about this festival and to find the best possible parking for the Capitol Hill Block Party!

About

The Capitol Hill Block Party is returning to downtown Seattle after a 2 year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 2 years off have given the directors of the program time to reconsider the direction of the program, so be ready for a new direction. The festival in the past has tried to employ a “something for everyone” type of energy when deciding the artists on the lineup. Festival owner Jason Lajeunesse and talent buyer Evan Johnson have gone for a tighter program focusing on electronic music for this year. “I think the multigenre festival has become less appealing to folks,” Lajeunesse said. “I remember one year we had [singer-songwriter] Angel Olsen go into [EDM star] Diplo, and it was pretty obvious that didn’t work. Our interests in all kinds of music were proving to be less practical on a festival concept.” They have added three stages this year and have booked over 150 artists.

Food

The food options are aimed at celebrating local establishments that have a lot of community value within Seattle. Here are a couple examples:

A Pizza Mart

A Pizza Mart is known for quality food that is not very formal. They are best known for their Greek pizza and jalapeno poppers.

Amandine Bakeshop

This bakery specializes in regional French and classic English pastries that incorporate locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients. This is in no way classic festival food, but that is part of the appeal.
